It is not good for all your wishes to be fulfilled: through sickness you recognise the value of health, through evil the value of good, through hunger satisfaction, through exertion the value of rest.

Aromatherapy

Therapy Guide

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils made from plants and flowers.

It is a healing art that aims to rejuvenate body, mind and spirit.

The different smells (aromas), and the chemical constituents of the oils, are said to produce different emotional and physiological reactions.

Essential oils can be massaged into the skin, added to bath water or vaporised in an oil burner. Although aromatherapy has been practised in some form or another in various cultures for thousands of years, the modern version was developed mainly in France.

Introduction

Each therapy has treatments that fall into general categories. The categories refer to the primary mode of operation of the therapy.

By mode of operation we are referring to the method by which the treatment is believed to effect a change in health. For example some therapies are manipulative where the effect is brought about by mechanical means applied by a therapist. Some are pharmacological or chemical.
