Kinesiology is the study of the mechanics of exercise. It is an interdisciplinary subject and is subsequently a secondary, rather than primary , field of academic enquiry.
Kinesiology encompasses the integrated review of the biological components and processes of human movement and exercise, including human anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, biochemistry, and especially biomechanics. The relationship between the quality of movement and overall human health is also studied.
Kinesiological information is applied in such fields as physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, exercise physiology, massage therapy, and ergonomics. The approach of these applications can be therapeutic, preventive, or high-performance. The application of kinesiology can also incorporate knowledge from other academic disciplines such as psychology, sociology, cultural studies, ecology, evolutionary biology, and anthropology.
Related interdisciplinary fields in motor skills research are graphonomics, i.e., the study of handwriting movement control and the study of motor control in speech.
Applied kinesiology (AK) is a form of diagnostic kinesiology and is not directly related to the traditional medical study. It is a method used to give feedback on the physical properties of the body. Proponents say that when properly applied, the outcome of an AK test, such as a muscle strength test, will determine the best form of therapy for patients.
Educational Kinesiology is an eclectic body of work combining kinesiology, education theory and the study of movement. “Movement is the primary way that infants and young children learn and integrate that learning into expressive action. Children and adults learn by practicing and doing things, by putting knowledge into action, by feeling the process of growth” – Paul Dennison
SFEF Kinesiology is comprised of energy systems backed up by physical techniques to attain the best results. All systems used in SFEF Kinesiology have an energy base. Therefore the Meridian, Chakra , and Inner Advanced lines , backed up with psychological and nutritional areas , comprise the major part of this healing modality.
